Problem

Patexia seeks prior art for a US patent that allegedly describes a method of managing a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) based redundant data transmission technique for a mobile device data uplink that transmits its data using a Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundle.

Based on whether the received feedback is a non-acknowledgement (NACK) or acknowledgement (ACK), the method generates a non-adaptive redundant transmission regardless of whether the timing of the current transmission opportunity is the first upload slot of the bundle transmission or another slot within the bundle transmission when no uplink grant had been received.

This Contest is related to the following Mobile Phone Connection Contests. Similar references are allowed; however, the five Contests focus on different features and have different questions. All five Contests have the same list of Known References.

  1. Data Division of a Service Data Unit
  2. HARQ Control of MIMO Handoff
  3. Efficient Random Access Preamble Procedure
  4. RLC Variable Reset
  5. HARQ with TTI Bundling

Questions

  1. Was the reference filed or published before August 15th, 2008?
  2. Does the reference describe a redundancy transmission method of a Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundle via an upload link of a mobile device with a processor and memory to execute this redundancy transmission, and each redundant transmission being generated in a non-adaptive way?
  3. Does the mobile device perform a redundant transmission of the TTI bundle in response to a Hybrid Automatic Retransmission (HARQ) process?
  4. Does the mobile device determine whether to generate a non-adaptive redundant transmission for the current upload transmission opportunity according to the last HARQ feedback received?
  5. Does the mobile device further determine whether to generate a non-adaptive redundant transmission regardless if the current upload opportunity is the first upload slot of the bundle transmission or another slot within the bundle transmission when no uplink grant for the current upload opportunity has been received?
  6. Does the mobile device then generate the non-adaptive redundant transmission if it receives a specific signal as the last HARQ feedback, or decline to generate the non-adaptive redundant transmission if the last HARQ feedback received is an acknowledgement (ACK) signal?

Prior Art Search

This is a Prior Art Search contest aimed at determining if a patent idea was known and publicly available before a patent was filed.

This contest will close on Tuesday, July 15th, 2014 at 11:59 PM PST.

This contest is subject to modified prize distribution awards:

  • the top submission will be designated as a winner and receive $5,000
