Biography Information
Steven Fredette, Ph.D., P.E., President of Fredette Consulting, is a WEMPEC graduate with over 20 years of R&D and Product Development experience in addition to 9 years of teaching experience
at multiple Universities. Steve brings a balanced, systematic approach to problem solving and has efficiently delivered innovative, producible solutions to the industrial, aerospace and alternative energy fields. Dr. Fredette holds 8 U.S. patents, several patents pending, and numerous academic and industrial awards and recognitions.
Steve is experienced with several power electronics topologies including multi-level converters, resonant-based converters and matrix converters; modeling, simulation and control of various machines including induction, PM, BLDC and SRM; modeling, simulation and design of current regulators and modulators for single, paralleled o interleaved converters; specification, design and selection of IGBTs, inductors, capacitors and other power electronics hardware including gate drivers and low inductance bus structures; and life analysis of IGBTs and other components including thermal and power cycling.
