Biography Information

Nikolaos (Nikos) Deligiannis received the Diploma degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium, in 2012.
From December 2006 to September 2007, he was with the Wireless Telecommunications Laboratory, University of Patras, conducting research on location positioning algorithms and services for mobile networks. He joined the Department of Electronics and Infomatics, Vrije Universiteit Brussel in October 2007, where was working as a researcher until September 2013. From Octomber 2013, he joined the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College London, working as a research associate on an EPSRC funded project. His research interests include multiterminal communications, distributed source coding, distributed compressive sensing, wireless sensor networks, wireless capsule endoscopy, multimedia compression and transmission, genome compression, http-adaptive streaming of video and location positioning algorithms.
Dr. Deligiannis’ doctorate dissertation was awarded with the “greatest distinction and congratulations from the jury”, the highest grade for a Ph.D. dissertation in the Belgian educational system. He was the co-recipient of the 2011 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras Best Paper Award and the recipient of the 2013 Scientific Prize IBM Belgium for Informatics. He has authored more than 45 journal, conference and book chapter publications and one filled international patent application. Dr. Deligiannis is a member of SPIE, EURASIP and the IEEE Signal Processing and Communications Societies.
