Hi! Andy, I m new in this and very much interested but I m little bit confused with one thing that what you exactly want a simulation software for testing a device... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Faraz! I'm glad we sparked your interest! So the contest is for computer software that can produce computer models (like AutoCAD or Solidworks) but is optimized to build computer models for products that interact with the human body (e.g. clothing, or a wearable device). I hope that answers your question!

Is there any particular requirement regarding the revenue of the product ( or company)?
Andy BosyiHi Anki! No requirement for revenue. As long as the product is available for purchase by US-based customers and used in the US.

If  the company is present USA can we add the product for that company
Andy BosyiAbsolutely! As long as the product is used in the US, then it qualifies for the contest. For example, if sold from a non-US company, but available for purchase for US-based customers, that would also count!

Hi, I have submitted the reference for the contest, is there any other way  to submit more reference because by mistake i have click on submit button... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Syed. Sorry about that. I've gone ahead and reopened your submission for you! Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Im confused on the for sale in U.S..  Does this mean that each reference has to explicitly show that it was for sale.  For example I have found the dead on... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi John. The nice thing about software is that the bar is fairly low. If it's available for purchase by someone in the US and is on computers in the US (e.g. installed on a customer's computer, installed on a customer's server, or software-as-a-service from servers base din the US), then it will be acceptable. Hope this helps!

Hi,  Its been quite a while that i submitted a reference for this study. But till date I have not received any response on whether I was on a right track or... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Pallavi. We're working hard on expanding our real-time feedback to Evidence of Use contests as quickly as possible. Our goal is to get feedback to all current participants soon, with at least enough time for participants to work on their submissions before the deadline to this contest on March 1st, 2015. Hope this helps! -Andy

If the software is available and used before 2005, could it be relevant?  Also does the product need to be only clothes or any thing ( E.g electronics worn on... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Himanshu. As long as the product was available and used during or after 2005, it is relevant. If it was available, used, and discontinued before 2005, then it would not be eligible for this contest. For your second question, as long as it interacts with and is worn on the body, the product could be anything. Hope this helps!

Just another question Andy. Can I submit an exclusive add-in or plug-in for existing CAD software which then facilitates them to perform the desired function? Or... Read More »
Andy BosyiThat would probably work. I would encourage you to submit it as one of your many products, since this contest type favors multiple products in one submission. Hope this helps as well!

Does the product has to be a daily use product? can the product be a machine or phone?
Andy BosyiHi Bikramjit. No, the product does not have to a daily use product, so long as it was sold in the United States. I suppose there's nothing preventing it from being a machine or a phone, so long as it was still "a computer aided design tool that allows a designer to build models and evaluate a product based on those models". Hope this helps!

Thank you Andy for your helpful answer. I have one more question.  It is given in the study instruction that the product "must be commercial available... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Bikramjit! If the product was sold/available starting in (for example) March 3rd, 2002, but discontinued on December 31st, 2004, then it would be ineligible for this study. However, if it was sold/available starting in March 3rd, 2002, and was still sold until June 5th, 2005, it would be eligible for this study.
Feb 3, 2015
Andy BosyiSo it wouldn't have to start being sold after 2005, so long as it was commercially available and for sale in the United States for any length of time in 2005. Hope that answers your question!

Can you explain what actually numerical analysis means? Also can you explain what are environmental factors? can it be a sitting posture of the human body?
Andy BosyiHi Bikramjit! That's a great question. Numerical analysis means that the computer software calculates an output from all the inputs (e.g. models, rules, etc) as a system of equations that need to be balanced out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerical_analysis). For example, free body diagrams from physics is a numerical analysis method.

Andy BosyiFor your second question, environmental factors could be the sweat from the body, other clothes that might be worn over the product, or the body sitting on the product. Hope this explanation helps!
