Problem

We live in a world with a growing population, climate change, and rising energy prices. As each of these problems, and others, become more acute the need for alternative sources of energy continues grow. In fact, according to British Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell, two of the world's largest oil companies, one third of the world's energy will need to come from renewable resources by 2050.

While few contest the benefits of exploring alternative energy, choosing which of the many options to focus on is less clear. Biomass Energy, Wind Energy, Solar Energy, Geothermal Energy,  and Hydroelectric Energy are some of the most commonly discussed options. However, other choices including Hydrogen power and more have been gaining attention.

Please provide a response to the following prompt:

Which approach to alternative energy is most promising? Why is this approach more valuable either in terms of efficiency or benefits to society?
