Andy BosyiHi Brochacho. Thanks for the great question. For Prior Art, the date of interest is when the document was first publicly available. For scientific publications, that would be the date of publication or date of presentation (e.g. conference proceedings). Let me know if you have any other questions!

While we're open to the possibility that no prior art exists that describes all the features and limitations in a contest, new technologies in our experience never appear out of nowhere. There's always something describing the technology, even if it's precursor tech. I would advise picking your best reference and submitting that to the Contest. Winning submissions don't have to hit a 100/100 score.
