Problem

We request previously undiscovered prior art including patents and non-patent literature (for example advertisements, papers, technical descriptions, catalogues, etc.) in English and foreign languages that can help invalidate claims 36 and 37 of US patent 6,705,794 (‘794) - “Display form having magnetically attachable parts.” The patent describes a manikin (also “mannequin”) with detachable limbs secured to the main body using magnets.

In particular, we are interested in the use of magnets greater than a particular fields strength in this application. Specifically, the magnetic connector should be strong enough to attract the adjoining piece at a distance greater than one-quarter inch, and have a magnetic field of at least 200 gauss (0.02 tesla) at a distance of 1 inch (2.54 cm).

If you are new, see patent and prior art basics and tips for Patexia's prior art contests, and refer to the submission notes below. The best qualifying submission is guaranteed to receive the prize.

The following questions will help clarify the specific requirements of this contest and determine eligible references. To be eligible for full prize amount, users should successfully answer “yes” to all 5 questions. The first eligible submission will be the contest winner.

Questions

  1. Was the reference published before Jan 26th, 1999 (clearly dated)?
  2. Does it describe a manikin/mannequin with removable pieces?
  3. Are these removable piece held in place with magnetic connectors?
  4. Does the two halves of the magnetic connectors begin to move towards one another at a distance greater than 1 inch (2.54 cm)?
  5. Is the magnetic field strength of the magnetic connector at least 200 gauss (0.02 tesla) at a distance of one 1 inch (2.54 cm)?
