Problem

Patexia seeks prior art for US Patent 8,325,838, with a focus on the independent claim 1.

With respect to ‘838 patent, Patexia is looking for a receiving apparatus (such as a user terminal) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication, which has a limited usable bandwidth to receive OFDM signals from a transmitting apparatus (such as a base station). Following Fig. 1 from ‘838 is a block diagram illustrating a schematic configuration of a transmitting circuit according to the embodiment.

Questions

#QuestionValue
1Is the reference either a US patent filed, a foreign patent published, or a non-patent document published before October 28, 2005? T/F
2Does the reference describe a receiving apparatus (such as a user terminal) for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication, comprising a receiving circuit, signal processing components, and signal transmitting components? 5
3Does the receiving circuit receive from a transmitting apparatus (such as a base station) OFDM signals comprising multiple subcarriers allocated among frequency channels used by the transmitting apparatus for transmitting signals and corresponds to a usable bandwidth of the receiving circuit? 25
4Do the OFDM signals comprise a data portion received by the receiving apparatus and allocated to multiple used (but not to unused) subcarriers, and the unused subcarriers are determined by the transmitting apparatus based on the receiving circuit’s usable bandwidth? 30
5Do the OFDM signals also comprise a broadcast portion with broadcast information comprising an indirect indication of the positions of the unused subcarriers within the data portion, with the positions in relation to the indirect indication mutually known by transmitting and receiving apparatus? 30
6Do the signal processing components demodulate the used subcarriers and not demodulate the unused subcarriers within the data portion? 5
7Do the signal transmitting components notify the transmitting apparatus the receiving circuit’s usable bandwidth? 5
