Problem
Patexia seeks prior art for US Patent 8,311,126 (US ‘126), which allegedly describes a method of transmitting video data over a serial link by packing a sequence of N-bit video words into a sequence of K-bit fragments, encoding the K-bit fragments into a sequence of M-fragment groups, and transmitting the sequence of M-fragment groups over the serial link. The variables N, K, and M are such that N does not equal to K, and M is N divided by the greatest common divisor of N and K, such that M is the smallest number of K-bit fragments containing N-bit words where no N-bit words are truncated.
The serial link video data transmission includes the following features and components:
- a subsystem at the transmitter that packs N-bit words of video data (e.g. pixel data) into K-bit fragments
- a transmitter circuitry that encodes an M number of K-bit fragments into a sequence of encoded groups
- a serial link that sends the sequence of encoded groups sequentially from the transmitter to the receiver
- a receiver circuitry to recover the K-bit fragments from the sequence of encoded groups
- a subsystem at the receiver to unpack the N-bit words of video data from the K-bit fragments
- with the subsystem at the transmitter receiving the N-bit words of video data at a rate of P, where P is the number of N-bit words of video data (e.g. pixel data) per unit time
- and with the transmitter sending the sequence of groups of fragments at (N/K)P, where it is the number of K-bit fragments per unit time
Overview of the Encoded Groups, Fragments, and Words
Questions
- Was the reference filed or published before June 24th, 2005? (True/False)
- Does the reference describe a transmitter and a receiver connected by a serial link?
- Does the transmitter contain a subsystem that operates in an N-bit mode to pack a sequence of N-bit words of video data into a series of K-bit fragments, where N and K are not the same integer?
- Does the transmitter contain circuitry, coupled to the subsystem and with outputs coupled to data channels of the serial link, that generates a sequence of encoded groups, each a collection of K-bit fragments, so that each group refers to a different one of the N-bit words of video data, and sends the entire sequence sequentially to the outputs?
- Does the transmitter subsystem receive the N-bit words of video data at a rate of P (or N-bit words per unit time), and does the transmitter circuitry send the sequence of groups of fragments to the output at an output rate of (N/K)P (or K-bit fragments per unit time)?
- Does the receiver contain circuitry, with inputs coupled to the serial link, that recovers the K-bit fragments from the sequence of encoded groups?
- Does the receiver contain an unpacking subsystem, coupled to the receiver circuitry, that operates in the N-bit to unpack the N-bit words of video data from the recovered K-bit fragments?
