Apple sends invitations for iPad 3 event in San Francisco on March 7

The iPad 3 will be unveiled on March 7 at 10 a.m. in the same location where the previous two iPads were shown, in the Novellus Theater at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. Numerous changes to the iPad 3 that set it apart from its predecessors are expected, among them a very high-resolution display -- some rumors claim 2,048 by 1,536 pixels, double the iPad 2 resolution -- as well as faster processor speed, potential 4G LTE connectivity and rumors of a quad-core processor or dual-core CPU. The invitation reads, "We have something you really have to see. And touch." Until Apple's notorious secrecy gives way to the iPad 3's actual specs, the rumor mill will continue to spin at high velocity.
