Harris Corporation develops integrated wireless digital voice and data network

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has received $12.4 million in orders from a Latin American nation for an integrated wireless digital voice and data network that supports critical communication coordination between federal officials and armed forces. The system also supports the integration of land mobile radio and tactical communications over a single integrated network. The OpenSky mission-critical land mobile radio system that was built on the Harris VIDA network and network management capabilities supports public safety communications. Additionally, it uses NetworkFirst, the Harris interoperability gateway solution, to interoperate with tactical radio communications. The Harris FalconCommand software, on the other hand, ensures fully implemented situation awareness. Finally, secure P5400 portable and M5300 mobile radios are being provided to federal officials, along with tactical radios from the Falcon II family.
