Japan: Companies to Get Credit for Inventions Rather Than Employees If Merit System in Place

The existing system ascribes patents to the inventors. The plan is to reduce the risk of litigation in a way that can keep Japan Inc.’s most talented R&D workers motivated. The Japan Patent Office will start revising the patent law once the outline for the amendment is approved by a government panel next week.
