Microsemi turns LED lights on faster

Light emitting diodes are slowly but surely replacing the highly-energy-inefficient incandescent lights that still dominate the home and office setting. One serious problem with LEDs is that the power sources used to drive them are too slow to start up, leaving a short delay between when you flip the switch and the diode turns on. Microsemi Corporation released a LED driver with a startup time of less than 150 microseconds -- too fast for the human eye to detect. That means no more delays. The device is also Energy Star compliant, and could provide a if simple improvement that is much-needed for the widespread adoption of LED lighting.
