Rovi will Appeal Decision in Netflix Case

Digital entertainment guide provider Rovi Corp announced earlier this week that it will appeal a California court decision which invalidated five of its patents. Rovi's patent portfolio has been licensed to TV providers such as Comcast, Time Warner, Dish Network, and DirecTV, but this outcome presents a major obstacle for expanding that list of licensees to include the likes of streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon.
