Samsung Builds Smart Home Foundation on Patents

Samsung has filed nearly 150 U.S. patent applications related to home automation in the past 14 years, roughly double that of second-ranked Sony, and will file another 60 or so this year, Thomson Reuters projects. Taken as a whole, the “smart home” industry is something of a Wild West these days, with Thomson Reuters’ numbers showing that the number of home automation-related patent applications filed by all companies has exploded over the past four years.
