Most energy generation systems consist of two components: a generator and a battery. Georgia Tech researcher Zhong Lin Wang thinks this is one too many. Along with... Read More »
Even under ideal circumstances, platinum-based fuel cells lose a quarter of the total energy in the conversion process. "Using platinum [as a fuel cell catalyst] ... Read More »
Engineers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) have discovered a catalyst that provides the same level of efficiency in microbial fuel cells (MFCs) as the... Read More »
A newly developed carbon nanotube material could help lower the cost of fuel cells, catalytic converters and similar energy-related technologies by delivering a... Read More »

Hydrogen could be a nice solution for many of our current problems with fossil fuels: it provides dense, portable energy without producing harmful emissions when... Read More »
Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) function like batteries that you can continually add fuel to. The Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory... Read More »
Virginia Commonwealth University scientists have developed a “sponge-like” porous material to purify natural gas and store hydrogen gas to be used in... Read More »
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) recently selected XG Sciences, a spin-off company from Michigan State University, to develop ultrahigh-energy ultracapacitors ... Read More »
