Andy BosyiHi Alice. For foreign patents, the international publication date is the date of note. Check out this infographic here for more information: https://www.patexia.com/how_to_date_your_prior_art_infographic.html

Andy, I want to make sure that the structure of the side airbag system.   There is one side airbag with multiple compartments  that covers front and... Read More »
Andy BosyiFrom how you phrased it, I think that's an accurate summary of the contest questions. To answer your final question though, the prizes go to the highest scoring submissions to any contest, very much like grading on a curve. That means the winner might not have answered every question; it depends on what the everyone submitted.

Andy BosyiIf your best references cannot answer all the questions, I would suggest picking your best references based on the points it's eligible for. We've included the point value for every question in a contest for exactly this purpose. Hope this helps!

Hi Andy, Can you elaborate on question 7 please, especially what does "with all the compartments in flow communication with each other" mean?  Thx... Read More »
Andy BosyiAbsolutely. What the phrase means is that the entire airbag (with its many components) shares the same continuous space, where nothing would prevent air from flowing from one part to another. The best example I have is a lung. Even though your lungs have many lobes, and air sacs and are divided from each other (for example your left and right lungs are very much different organs), they share the same space so that air could theoretically move from one space to the other.

Hi Andy,  This is a " just to be sure" type question. In an invalidity search , do the features have all be found in the same single patent document/... Read More »
Andy BosyiHi Jun. The answer is that it depends. Sometimes features are mutually independent, and its very much possible that they can be described over the course of several documents. Sometimes what looks like mutually independent features are actually inherently tied together. It very much depends on the technology we're talking about. As such, we recommend working with a single document since it will always work. However, in the case that you find you must use multiple documents, designating the second and third references as a support reference is a way to avoid averaging the scores. Our new infographic here can help walk you through that process: https://www.patexia.com/how_many_references.html

Hi Andy, Do you have the number of the patent you are trying to invalidate?
Andy BosyiHi Alice. Unfortunately, the contest description is everything we have available for this contest. Hope that helps!

Please confirm that the relevant priority date is Dec. 11 1995 and not Nov. 121995
Andy BosyiHi Alice. December 11th, 1995 is correct. Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Andy I want to know  that whether Priority Date has no use in this particular contest and we should focus only on filing date regarding US patent.
Andy BosyiHi Anki. This contest has a priority date of 12/11/1995. There's no special rules for this contest, so it should be the US patent's filing date, foreign patent publication date, or non-patent publication date. This infographic we've made can help you navigate the particular date for a US patent: https://www.patexia.com/how_to_date_your_prior_art_infographic.html

Andy BosyiHi Jun! This is a Prior Art Search contest (or validity search). We'll always announce the search type right under the contest name as well as the last paragraph of the description. Hope that helps!
